CO2 Resurfacing Laser For Anti-Aging

CO2 Resurfacing Laser at North Florida Plastic Surgery

Rejuvenate your skin and visibly remediate the external effects of aging with CO2 resurfacing laser treatments from North Florida Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics.

The CO2 (carbon dioxide) laser used in skin resurfacing treatments uses targeted light beams to shed the uppermost, superficial layer of the skin. The CO2 resurfacing laser removes the outer layer of damaged or aged skin and stimulates the regeneration of healthy skin underneath. Most patients only need one CO2 treatment to see results. Some patients with deep wrinkles or scarring such as acne scars may need multiple treatments for optimal resurfacing. Patients commonly undergo this treatment to treat the crepey skin of the undereye region, stubborn “lipstick” lines as well as texture to the chin, however the most popular area to treat is the full face.

What Can CO2 Resurfacing Lasers Treat?

The CO2 resurfacing laser can be used to treat a variety of skin concerns, including the remediation of cosmetic skin problems, such as deep wrinkles, acne scars, fine lines, and deep lines, and treatment of skin with visible discoloration from sunspots or age spots, among other pigmentation-related features.

This treatment can erase up to seven years of visible signs of aging from the face.

How Does Laser Resurfacing Work?

CO2 lasers use pulses of laser light that penetrate the surface of the skin, where they can be absorbed by water in the skin’s cells.

As this occurs, the superficial layer of skin (epidermis) becomes vaporized, while the middle layer of skin (dermis) heats up and stimulates the growth of collagen fibers. As the treated area heals, firmer, smoother, and newly generated skin cells replace the damaged, sloughed-off ones. This generates new collagen cells, maximizing the results of this anti-aging treatment while helping the skin avoid damage to its deeper layers. The CO2 resurfacing laser treatment will leave you with a smoother and more youthful appearance.
